Day 82
August 2 - 0km (Espanola)
Like I said, there was a lot to be nervous about. This stretch of poor highway and isolation was going to be about 1500km. I had heard that the distance between St. Sault Marie and Thunder Bay was particularly egregious with its road conditions. It didn’t help that the hills were really just miniature mountains.
After sleeping in, I woke up and headed out. I had not biked very far when I got caught in a bad thunderstorm. I really wanted to push forward to prove to myself that I wasn’t afraid of the roads ahead, but logic prevailed. I waited the storm out at a Tim’s - and when it was over, I realized I had no drive to bike today. Honestly, the nerves got to me and I didn’t feel ready to get on the road. I decided to take another day off, and I felt defeated.
