Day 81
August 1 - 101km (Espanola)
I had a late start. Like I said, I was very nervous to start biking on the TransCanada again. Refer to the photo of my route if this gets confusing. Essentially, I had been biking on the TransCanada all along the Maritimes. When I got to Quebec and east/south Ontario, I was able to take alternate highways. All of these roads were decent for the most part: they had wide shoulders and weren’t too isolated. As I crossed back onto the mainland, there were only two routes: the 17 and the 11. Both were very isolated, and had terrible, terrible shoulders with heavy transport traffic; the 17 was marginally better in regards to shoulder width but had more traffic. Coupled with the wildlife and isolation… I was nervous.
