My name is Zain and I’m biking across Canada for Kids Help Phone.
I wanted this bike trip to be more than just a personal journey in regards to self-growth and maturation, and more as a shared experience in kindness, empathy and altruism.
I know all of this may sound cliché, but mental health is really important to me for various reasons. And I want to make a difference. But how does one achieve a goal with such an abstract objective? I chose to fundraise for Kids Help Phone because I thought what they are doing is impactful. Having someone to talk to can help in moments of vulnerability, especially at a young age. The way Kids Help Phone delivers access to mental health services across Canada represents that concrete difference-making I was looking for. That's why every cent donated is greatly, greatly appreciated.
Canadians are a beautiful people. As I sit and write this, I have already been helped so much before even starting my journey. To the people who helped me with my bike, who gave me crucial advice and who simply provided support for my trip in any way: I deeply thank you. All of you make me proud to be Canadian, and I hope to genuinely pass on the goodwill by raising support for meaningful mental health services and making that concrete difference.
If you want to know more about how the donations are being used, check out this link here. Again, any amount is appreciated.
To be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing. But I know I can do this.
Canada, here I come.
