Day 26
June 7 - 81km (Paq’tnkek)
The gloom had not yet dissipated, but as I mentioned before, I had accepted this as my reality. A little cold and rainfall was not going to stop us.
Peri had an account on an app called Warmshowers, which connects bike tourists with potential hosts. The app is very much reliant on the kindness of strangers.
She was able to find someone to host us for the night; the only issue was getting there. I remember quite a few hills, but we crushed each and every one of them. My confidence as a cyclist was only increasing.
We eventually made it to Paq’tnkek, where we met our host, Jack. He was an experienced bike tourist and had a lot of wisdom to share. I took a nice, long and warm shower and we had a great conversation afterwards. He had some cool bikes to show off. Jack, thank you so much for hosting us!
