Day 79

July 30 - 75km (Tobermory)

I had decided I would be continuing my journey. My friends would be going on a hike, but I needed to make progress. I also felt like I was getting too comfortable, so it felt like the right decision. After saying goodbye (but not farewell) to my friends, I set off.

Things were going great until my phone stopped working after I dropped a small amount of water on it. My phone went black - but its audio was functional - leading me to believe I ruined the screen. Not great, because my family was at Tobermory and trying to know when I would arrive.

With no form of communication, I pulled into the first building I saw - a church - to see if I could call my family. Inside, with some shade from the sunlight, I realized that my brightness on my phone was just turned down. Oops. The phone worked fine, but it was a great way to make friends with Pastor Dwayne and company! That’s what I tell myself.

I made it to Tobermory where my dad, aunt and cousins were waiting. We got some fish and chips and chatted for a little bit. My family had to travel back home (a three hour drive), and this time it was really goodbye. After some well wishes, I was all by myself again.
