Day 118
September 7 - 66km (Medicine Hat)
I thought that the terrain would change when I entered Alberta; I had not realized that it would be Prairie land up until Calgary. That meant brutal winds to deal with. I had biked 66km and had only reached Medicine Hat. As I was eating at a Subway, I was literally about to fall asleep.
Then, I had an idea. I found a good quality motel for 42 dollars (which is unheard of) in Medicine Hat. The motel was about 300km away from Calgary and the wind would be on my back tomorrow. That meant that it would be a perfect opportunity to go for 300km, and it would probably be my last chance since I would be in the mountains afterwards.
I stocked up on food and had a big dinner from McDonald’s. Then, I set my alarm for 4:40 in the morning, because I would need every single second of daylight possible tomorrow.
