Day 110

August 30 - 161km (Pense)

Regina was about 130km away, and I desperately needed to make it to a bike shop. Today there was a very strong cross-tailwind so I thought I would take advantage of that and go for 300km. I knew it was a very ambitious goal considering that my previous best was 210km, but why not go for it? This was assuming that the mechanic in Regina would be quick and I could go on my way.

I found a mechanic working from his garage, John, and we quickly learned that this was going to take some time. He was able to true my wheel, but there were a whole host of other issues. Namely, I needed to get my brake pads replaced about 1000km ago. Whoops.

John fed me some hamburgers and he showed me firsthand what he was doing. It was a very informative session. I realized I would not be hitting my 300km goal as time was dwindling by, but that was okay because I was getting my bike fixed.

I got into the small town of Pense and found a motel.
