Day 103
August 23 - 86km (Oakville)
I headed out. I had breakfast at a diner just outside of Winnipeg, and that’s where I met Alvina. Alvina was a very kind, empathetic soul who just brightened up the entire restaurant. She was very moved by the biking and made sure to give me her number so I could keep her up to date on my trip. We decided that she would be my Manitoba mom.
I did not feel like biking today. I was introduced to the Prairie winds, and they were brutal. I came into Manitoba thinking that this would be a piece of cake, but today served as a lesson that the wind would dictate the ease of this portion of the journey.
I reached a farmer’s market where they fed me and let me camp on their property. Thank you to the Little Red Barn in Oakville!
