Day 85
August 5 - 100km (Sault Ste. Marie)
I was getting closer to Sault Ste. Marie - this would be the last truly populated area I would be seeing for quite some time. The biking was beautiful, and I was starting to realize the isolation was a bit of a beautiful thing. North Ontario is gorgeous. The scale of the forest was almost unimaginable - and I felt like an ant pedalling through it.
I eventually reached a campground. I had been trying to avoid paying for these (it’s just a shower and a patch of grass) but I was near a city and didn’t feel like finding a safe place to sneak in and camp. It was a good thing I went to this campground, because I met Chris and Tamara! They lived in Australia but were motorcycling across Canada and would eventually be dipping down to California. They were some cool people! We said goodbye and I called it a night.
