Day 45

June 26 - 0km (Calais)

It was time to say goodbye to Sandy and Stan, and it was a really sad departure. However, this time, things would be different - I would be staying in touch much more often!

Stan was actually driving to central Maine to run some errands, and he offered to drive me back to Calais (where I entered Maine). I agreed, because again, this was a detour and I wanted to return to the exact point I exited Canada. That way, I would be biking all of Canada - this was important to me. I know it doesn’t make the most sense to most!

Stan dropped me off at Ed and Vicki’s, and they let me spend the night. Honestly, it was pretty crazy - I had just met Ed and Vicki a week ago, and I now considered them friends for life. That’s been the beauty of this trip - biking the country and seeing its magnificence has been cool, but the real adventure has been the connections I’ve made thus far.
