Day 32 - PEI complete!

June 13 - 60km (Strang Campground)

I had decided it was time for me to split from the group. Peri, Will and Sam were amazing, but I realized that I had to do this trip on my own. The value in this journey, to me, was the solitude. Figuring out what to do at your lowest points by yourself had resulted in the most growth for me.

Sam had run into some bike troubles as we headed out and needed to go back to Charlottetown; after sorting his tire out, we said our goodbyes. Or rather, we told ourselves that we would meet again after finishing our respective journeys. We wished each other good luck and headed our separate ways.

I remember feeling a little bit of unease being by myself again. It didn’t help that when I took the shuttle over to New Brunswick, I was dropped off in the middle of nowhere.

Speaking of the shuttle, I was legally not allowed to bike across the Confederation Bridge. The shuttle dropped me off at a certain point, and I was heavily debating biking to the point where the bridge started. Legally, I didn’t know if I was allowed to do that and I remember feeling uneasy about it.

I headed to a nearby campground where I met Sheldon and the Strang Shenanigans. I heard some music coming from a building and I wanted to be spontaneous, so I went in and introduced myself. I made some great friends that night, and Sheldon, the camp owner, let me stay the night in the building. He even gave me a New Brunswick license plate.

Sheldon, Brenda, Paula, Carol, Kevin and Al: thank you!
