Day 138
September 27 - Victoria (95km)
Reaching Vancouver didn’t feel like the end to me - because it wasn’t. I told myself I was ending at Mile Zero in Victoria, so that’s where I had to be today. The finality started to seep in and I was reflective as I pedalled to the ferry. Yes, I was going to miss the beautiful sights, the wind in my face and the feeling of pure freedom, but I realized I was also going to miss the brutal hills, the soreness in my legs and the chaos of the highways. These challenges are what made this journey so memorable.
As I departed the ferry, I realized I was struggling with a paradox. It felt unbelievable to me that I had biked across Canada, but at the same time, I was so familiar with cycling across the country that to do anything else would feel alien.
I reached Mile Zero as it was getting dark and found a spot to dip my front tire into the Pacific. My journey was over.
