Day 136
September 25 - Hope (123km)
I knew today was going to involve a lot of climbing, so I had mentally prepared myself accordingly. As I tried joining the 5, I noticed a sign that said no vehicles permitted that cannot travel 60km/h. I know I’ve progressed a lot as a cyclist, but I’m pretty sure I’m nowhere close to that speed.
I had to adjust my route. After some analysis on Google Maps, I found a parallel route that eventually rejoined the 5. While it involved less climbing, it was still tough - but I still reached the summit.
Today’s descent was even more intense than yesterday. The rain was cutting my face as I zoomed through the foggy mist and I was shivering through all my layers. Being soaked didn’t help. But I pushed through.
I finally got into Hope and again wolfed down a feast.
